The Seated Lumbar Flexion exercise is aiming to improve the range of movement of your lower back, specifically to help with activities such as bending over.
Start by sitting on a chair with your hands placed on your thighs. Then reach down with your hands towards the floor, once you are at the end of your range, you can return to the start position.
Start off with a small amount of movement and increase the range as you perform more repetitions. You should feel a gentle stretch of the muscles in your lower back with this exercise.
Aim to complete the reps and sets as suggested in your rehab programme.
If you are struggling to perform this movement, you may find the Lumbar Flexion in Lying exercise a little easier – a video of this exercise is available on our channel.
If you found this exercise helpful, there are a number of other lower back mobility exercises over on our channel.
