This exercise is the Kneeling Side Plank and its primary aim is to strengthen the oblique muscles on the side of your torso.
Start by lying on the floor on your side. Prop yourself up onto your forearm and your knee. There should be a straight line between your knees, hips and shoulders.
Hold this position for the duration suggested in your rehab programme.
If you find this exercise too easy you may find the Full Side Plank more challenging - there is a video of this exercise in our playlist.
