Thoracic Flexion and Extension Mobility

The Thoracic Flexion and Extension Mobility exercise is aiming to improve the range of movement of the middle portion of the spine, it is also called the ‘Cat Camel’ exercise.

Start on all fours on the floor. Then attempt to make a hump with your upper back, followed by moving in the opposite direction and arching your back. Ideally your hips and shoulders should stay in the same position and the movement is generated by the middle portion of your spine.

Aim to complete the reps and sets as suggested in your rehab programme.

If you find this exercise helpful, there are a number of other thoracic and lower back mobility exercises available on our channel.
