Shoulder Flexibility Exercises

These Shoulder Flexibility Exercises aim to improve the mobility of your shoulder in all directions, reducing any stiffness or tightness you may be experiencing.

Start with your arms straight down by your side, and begin taking them out in front of you as high as you are comfortable to do so, and then return to the start position.

Next, with your arms still straight, take them backwards behind you as far as possible into extension, and again return back to the start position.

Then take your arms out to the side attempting to bring them up towards your ears if possible, and then return back to the start position.

The starting position for the next movement is with your arms out away from your side at shoulder height. You ultimately want to give yourself a hug, and then moving your arms in the opposite direction squeezing your shoulder blades together.

The final exercise is performing rotational movements of your shoulders with your arms at 90 degrees, whilst your elbows are bent, trying to keep the movement nice and smooth throughout.

Aim to complete the number of reps and sets suggested in your rehab programme.

If you found these exercises helpful we have more shoulder, lower back and neck mobility exercises available.
