The Shoulder External Rotation Mobility exercise aims to increase the mobility of your shoulder, specifically rotating the arm outwards away from your body.
In standing with your elbows bent at 90 degrees whilst holding a broom or a pole, rotate your hand outwards away from the body. Your upper arms should stay in contact with the torso throughout the movement so that you can be sure the rotational movement is coming from your shoulder, and to help make sure you get full range of movement you can use the other arm to push against the pole. Make sure your torso remains upright and doesn't rotate with the movement. You should feel the shoulder muscles being stretched during this movement but it shouldn't produce any sharp pain.
Aim to complete the reps and sets as suggested in your free rehabilitation programme from our website.
