Shoulder Abduction Mobility

The Shoulder Abduction Mobility exercise aims to increase the mobility of your shoulder, specifically taking the arm outwards away from your body.

In standing with your arms down by your side whilst holding a broom or a pole, take your straight arm out to the side with the other arm pushing the pole to help support the movement and make it easier, and then return to the start. Make sure your torso remains upright and doesn’t rotate with the movement. You should feel the shoulder muscles being stretched during this movement but it shouldn’t produce any sharp pain.

Aim to complete the reps and sets as suggested in your rehab programme.

If you find this exercise helpful, there are a number of other shoulder mobility exercises on our channel.
